Stephen Lawrence

Director

"People are a passion of mine.  While in my early years I never thought 'wow' I want to be an insolvency practitioner. I enjoy the people contact and the ability I have to put a 'human face' to insolvency and to see justice being carried out where at all possible."

Steve has a long history of working in the insolvency arena.  He spent approximately ten years with the Official Assignee's Office.  He was then "plucked" from the Government to move into the private sector by then insolvency firm Ferrier Hodgson.  He was the Liquidations Manager there for some thirteen years, setting up the department from scratch.

During that time he was involved with a wide range of high profile receiverships (including Qantas New Zealand and Dress for Less) and liquidations (including Sportsgirl and Imax).  He then went to insolvency firm McDonald Vague for two and a half years, continuing to focus on liquidations and receiverships.  His most notable assignment was the receivership of Cardiac Bar.  Steve's technical and interpersonal skills have added another "string to the bow" of the PKF Corporate team.

Steve has been the Auckland President of New Zealand Credit and Finance Institute for some ten years and was appointed a "Fellow of the New Zealand Credit and Finance Institute" in 2003.

While Steve enjoys the "hands on" approach to the assignments he runs, he is just as comfortable with a coffee in his hand chatting to his clients.
